New 8-storey icon in the heart of KL’s Golden Triangle the ideal haven for shopping, dining & entertainment

Kuala Lumpur, 18 January 2015 – Quill City Mall, the latest prestigious landmark along Jalan Sultan Ismail in Kuala Lumpur – celebrated its grand launch today in colourful splendor. Held on an auspicious day bearing significance to the mall’s lot number – Lot 1018 - the event was officiated by YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri bin Abdul Aziz, the Minister of Tourism and Culture Malaysia.

The Kuen Cheng High School Wind Orchestra and Kuen Cheng High School 24 Seasonal Drums bands together with 18 lion dance troupes added to the merriment as the Minister was welcomed by Dato’ Michael Ong, Group Executive Director and Dato’ Dr Jennifer Low, Group Managing Director of the Quill Group of Companies. Also in attendance was Kuala Lumpur Mayor, YBhg Datuk Seri Hj Ahmad Phesal Hj Talib.

In conjunction with its grand launch, Quill City Mall was a hive of activity throughout the weekend, in celebration of its status as a major shopping, dining, entertainment and leisure destination for locals and tourists alike.

At the top on the agenda for the weekend is a special showcase by K-Much, a K-Pop group comprising members Kiu, Bornus, G.Low and Ato who released their debut mini album ‘Beyond the Ocean’ in January 2014 There were also performances by Malaysian singer Candy Ice, Quill Hip Hop Dancers, Flash Mob and Bubble Artist Jeff Leong as well as fun activities for the entire family.

In his welcome speech, Dato’ Michael Ong, Group Executive Director of the Quill Group of Companies said, “This is a new icon in the heart of KL’s Golden Triangle. It has 770,000 square feet of nett retail space fronting the bustling Jalan Sultan Ismail. Quill City Mall will serve as an attractive and convenient hub for those living and working in the Golden Triangle and surrounding areas.

“Quill City Mall is part of a greater project by Quill. This includes a 36-storey residential building and a hotel with service apartments. With these integrated components, the Quill City development is poised to become the ‘next big thing’ in the heart of KL,” added Dato’ Michael Ong.

Quill City Mall's unique features include:

•    The first-ever sky alfresco dining experience in Malaysia, with breathtaking views of the surrounding cityscape.

•    A specially designed roof made of multi-coloured glass and opaque panels to maximize natural lighting. The roof complements the overall aesthetics of the mall, with the effect of a floating cloud above the alfresco terrace, setting a refreshing scene of the KL skyline for patrons as they shop and dine.

•    The mall’s frontage contains a facade which is the longest in the country at over 200 metres, created to complement the surrounding commercial area and neighbourhood to complete Kuala Lumpur’s thriving city centre.

•    Visible from all areas of the mall is another first in Malaysia – a floating media pod in the form of a 2 level space that projects live broadcast of events, advertising and promotions, creating different moods within the mall, while helping to bring the extended community together with shoppers through exciting events and initiatives.
